What is a TM44 Inspection?

A TM44 inspection is an assessment of the efficiency and effectiveness of air conditioning systems with an effective rated output greater than 12kW. In most cases, inspections are required every five years and must be completed by an accredited energy assessor.

The purpose of the inspection is not simply to confirm compliance, but to review whether systems are appropriately sized, operating efficiently and being maintained in a way that supports long term performance. The inspection also considers controls, usage patterns and opportunities to reduce unnecessary energy consumption.

Following the inspection, building owners receive a TM44 certificate alongside a detailed report outlining findings and recommendations.
