Security Clearance Required

This role involves working on high-security MOD sites and facilities. Successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain security clearance, which will be fully funded by the company. The clearance process will be initiated upon offer of employment.

What's in it for you

Genuine career development - You'll become a fire safety specialist working on some of the UK's most sensitive and critical defence infrastructure. Job security in an essential industry - Fire safety compliance for MOD facilities is mission-critical and never goes away. You'll be working in a recession-proof sector with a minimum 3-year contract, providing excellent long-term security and stability in an industry with growing demand for security-cleared professionals.

Real autonomy and responsibility - Work independently across MOD sites, make technical decisions within high-security environments, build relationships with defence clients, and see your expertise directly contribute to the safety of critical defence infrastructure and business growth.

Day-to-day responsibilities: You'll be surveying MOD buildings and facilities to assess compartmentation and passive fire protection, carrying out door inspections (some requiring FDIS certification) and identifying compartmentation line errors. Working with building drawings (including classified documentation) to understand fire ratings, you'll sometimes conduct destructive surveys to uncover hidden issues, then create detailed lists of defects and develop practical solutions. Beyond the technical surveying work, you'll review quotations from your findings, work closely with Health Check Managers and the Operations team, and meet with MOD clients and personnel to explain survey results and the importance of addressing identified issues. You'll also provide ongoing technical support on MOD properties and help Project Managers with your building knowledge and expertise, all while maintaining strict security protocols.

What we need from you

Essential:

  • Good understanding of fire safety regulations
  • Previous compartmentation and/or door surveying experience

Description:

Warden Call & Access Control Engineer

Location: Coventry

Pay: £35,000.00-£43,000.00

Keep Life-Critical Systems Running. Make a Real Difference.

Are you a skilled engineer who wants more than just turning up and turning a spanner? Join HJS (Harrold-Jones Services), part of the Ventro Group, and take on a field-based role where your expertise genuinely matters. The systems you maintain keep vulnerable people safe – warden call units in sheltered housing, door entry to healthcare facilities, and access control across commercial and residential properties. We’re a growing, connected team that values independence and trust. You’ll have the autonomy to manage your own day, your own van, and your own workload – backed by a supportive office team and colleagues who’ll share knowledge and have your back when you need it. No micromanagement. Just high standards and the freedom to do the job properly.

Why This Role?

Work That Actually Matters: Every system you maintain is life-critical. Warden call systems protect elderly and vulnerable residents. Access control secures healthcare facilities. Door entry keeps communities safe. You’re not just fixing boxes – you’re a key part of keeping people protected.

You’ll receive funded manufacturer training, support towards qualifications, and the opportunity to grow your skills across an increasingly broad range of systems. As the team grows, there are real pathways to senior and mentoring roles for those who want them.

Autonomy & Trust: You’ll be trusted to manage your own diary, your van, and your workload. We set high standards, then we let you get on with it. Regular team catch-ups mean you’re never isolated, but day-to-day you’re your own boss on site.

Other benefits include:

Company Vehicle: Fully equipped van with specialist tools and diagnostic equipment provided

Flexible Benefits: Holiday purchase scheme allowing additional time off

Healthcare: Comprehensive healthcare coverage

Employee Referral Programme: Financial incentives for successful candidate referrals

Professional Development: Fully funded manufacturer training and role-specific qualifications to support career growth

On-Call Supplement: Additional pay for participation in the out-of-hours on-call rota

What You’ll Do

You’ll carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across door entry, access control, and warden call systems. Working independently across multiple client sites, you’ll diagnose and resolve faults on platforms including Paxton, Tynetec (XT2 and Reach Digital), Tunstall, and Comelit - hitting first-time fix targets and attending warden call callouts within contracted response windows.

You’ll also install and commission new systems – from wiring and containment through to handover documentation – and provide end-user training to clients across healthcare, housing, and commercial settings. Accurate job records, compliance with BS 7671 and health and safety legislation, and a safety-first mindset on every site are central to everything you do.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • 3–5 years’ hands-on experience with door entry, access control, or warden/nurse call systems
  • NVQ Level 3 or 18th Edition (City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent)

Ideal:

Internal Recruiter

Job Type: Permanent

Full or Part Time: Full-Time

Category: Central Services

Location: Plymouth

Description:

Internal Recruiter - Full-Time

Location - Plymouth

About Ventro Group

Ventro Group is a specialist fire safety and building compliance business operating through three established brands - Ventro, Firntec, and HJS. Backed by leading European private equity firm KLAR Partners, we're on an ambitious growth trajectory - scaling our workforce, expanding our service lines, and acquiring businesses that strengthen our position as a market leader in life safety.

This isn't steady-state recruitment. This is building something.

The Role

We're looking for an Internal Recruiter to join our in-house Talent Acquisition team and play a hands-on role in hiring the people who will drive this business forward. You'll work across a diverse requisition load spanning technical, operational, and specialist roles - from Fire Alarm Engineers and Façade Engineers to Project Managers, Estimators, and beyond.

You won't just post adverts and wait. You'll headhunt, you'll build talent pipelines, you'll challenge hiring managers, and you'll own your desk like it matters - because it does. Every hire you make directly supports a business that keeps people safe in their homes and workplaces.

What You'll Be Doing

Working as part of a small, high-performing TA function, you'll manage the full recruitment lifecycle from intake through to offer. That means partnering with stakeholders across all three brands, sourcing candidates through direct search and job boards, screening with a critical eye, and guiding hiring managers through structured, competency-based selection. You'll contribute to talent pool development, employer brand activity, and the continuous improvement of our recruitment processes and compliance standards.

What We're Looking For

This role needs someone with genuine recruitment pedigree - you've done the miles, whether in-house or agency, and you know how to find good people in difficult markets. Ideally, you'll have worked in a technical, construction, engineering, or building services environment and you'll understand what a strong CV looks like in that world - and, just as importantly, what a polished CV is trying to hide.

Beyond the experience, we need the right character. You've got fire in the belly. You take ownership. You don't wait to be told. You build relationships with hiring managers based on trust and credibility, and you're not afraid to push back when the brief doesn't stack up. You understand that great recruitment isn't transactional - it's consultative, it's strategic, and it's relentless.

In short, you'll bring:

  • Proven experience in a recruitment role (agency or in-house), ideally within construction, engineering, fire safety, building services, or a similarly technical sector
  • The ability to read between the lines of a CV - spotting potential, identifying risk, and making sound judgement calls
  • Strong stakeholder management skills - you can advise, influence, and challenge at all levels
  • A proactive, driven mindset you source, you chase, you close-
  • Familiarity with ATS platforms, LinkedIn Recruiter, and Boolean search techniques
  • A genuine passion for doing recruitment properly

Why Ventro Group?

You'll be joining a PE-backed business with serious investment behind it and significant growth plans ahead. This is a chance to be part of something that's scaling fast, where your contribution is visible and your development isn't capped. You'll work in a TA function that's been built from the ground up with proper governance, structured processes, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

If you want a role where you can make a real impact - not just fill seats - we want to hear from you.

To apply, send your CV and a brief note on why this role appeals to you.

The Role

Some problems are hidden behind walls.

Day to day, you’ll be:

  • Surveying buildings for compartmentation defects and passive fire protection issues
  • Identifying breaches in fire-resisting walls, floors, and service penetrations
  • Interpreting construction drawings and fire strategies
  • Carrying out intrusive and destructive surveys to expose hidden issues
  • Producing detailed defect reports with clear remedial actions

  • Extreme Ownership: takes responsibility for identifying and escalating issues
  • Day 1 Mindset: curious, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement

The Role

Most people walk past fire doors without a second glance.

They don’t see the gap at the bottom that would let smoke through in minutes, or the intumescent seal that’s been painted over twice. You do. That’s what makes a great surveyor - and it’s exactly who we’re looking for.

As a Fire Door Surveyor, you’ll be out on site every day carrying out detailed fire door inspections across a range of buildings including residential, commercial, and public sector properties. You’ll assess fire door compliance, identify defects, and produce clear, actionable reports that help clients improve safety and meet regulatory standards.
