Case study
Situation
Following a Fire Risk Assessment, Chesterfield was alerted to address issues with their emergency lighting as it required updates in some areas, and their was insufficient lights in other areas. Finding a contractor who could safely complete the FRA actions during COVID-19 was a significant challenge.
Solution
Following the guidance of BS 5266 and complying with Approved Document B, Ventro were able to assist Chesterfield in bringing their buildings to compliance. Ventro worked with Chesterfield to devise a strategy to keep vulnerable and high-risk residents safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Procurement
A thorough and efficient procurement process through the Efficiency East Midlands framework enabled Chesterfield Borough Council to comply with OJEU regulations and Chesterfield's internal procurement process.
Compliance
Ventro and Chesterfield brought the emergency lighting to compliance by advising where installation and maintenance should occur to comply with Approved Document B and BS 5266.
Golden Thread
From the initial manufacturing process to the installation and maintenance of the emergency lighting, the assets' information was digitally gathered so Chesterfield could store it in the Golden Thread.
Residents
Having a clear and coherent resident engagement strategy led to a decrease in complaints and allowed residents to feel safe in their homes by having emergency lighting where required.
