Luton & Dunstable Hospital identified the critical need for a fire door replacement program following an external fire door survey. Upon Ventro's engagement, a comprehensive compartmentation survey further revealed additional fire-stopping work required across the hospital's 60 blocks. The contract execution coincided with the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, presenting unprecedented challenges. The surge in patient numbers necessitated enhanced infection control measures and new protocols to prevent virus spread within the hospital, demanding extreme caution and adaptability in all operations.

The Solution
Ventro prioritized patient healthcare and adopted an exceptionally accommodating approach throughout the project. Recognizing the sensitive nature of some wards, every member of Ventro's staff underwent a standard DBS check to meet hospital requirements, with staff working on maternity or paediatrics wards carrying an enhanced DBS check.
All fire safety work was completed in strict accordance with BM Trada guidelines, adhering to their highest accreditation standards. Ventro maintained a robust communication protocol, providing weekly written reports and bi-weekly or monthly updates either face-to-face or virtually via Teams, particularly crucial during the COVID period. Throughout the project, all upgrades were meticulously logged and asset tagged. As an added value, Ventro provided QR asset tagging at no extra cost. Whenever feasible, Ventro employed a locally based team to execute the project, including hiring a local site manager and local fire stopping teams to perform the required tasks.
